Né en 1973, Yann Mingard est un photographe d’origine suisse. Il abandonne son métier d’horticulteur-paysagiste, entreprenant des études à l’Ecole des Beaux-Arts de Genève puis à l’Ecole de Photographie de Vevey. C’est ainsi qu’il se consacre entièrement à la photographie, imprégnant ses œuvres de cette sensibilité spécifique, liée intimement à la terre et à l’environnement naturel.
Dans le cadre de son travail, « Deposit », Yann Mingard s’intéresse à la conservation du patrimoine humain. Il s’attèle à poser les questions, souligner les paradoxes : n’est-ce pas amusant de conserver une graine, organisme vivant, dans une pièce où tout est calculé pour que la conservation soit optimale, quoi de plus artificiel ?
Plein d’esthétisme, le travail de l’artiste se positionne quant à notre relation à notre environnement, en l’illustrant, comme c’est le cas avec « Repaires », avec simplicité mais interpellant le citadin : ces paysages oniriques et vierges de toutes interventions humaines peuvent-ils encore exister où sont-ils désormais rangés au rang de mythes ?
De renommée internationale, les œuvres de Yann Mingard font partie d’importantes collections conservées au FNAC, à Paris et au Musée de l’Elysée, à Lausanne. En 2014 son projet « Deposit » connaît un succès fulgurant à l’occasion de plusieurs expositions : en Suisse, au Fotomuseum de Winterthur, au Photoforum PasquArt de Bienne, en Allemagne, au Musée Folkwang d’Essen et en Belgique, au Fotomuseum d’Anvers.
Grâce à sa collaboration avec la Galerie C, Yann Mingard a été présenté à Fotofever Art Fair à Bruxelles en 2013. En 2014, son travail a été couronné de plusieurs distinctions : le Prix de « Artiste de l’année » à Lianzhou Foto Festival, en Chine et le premier prix pour le projet « Enquête photographique neuchâteloise », en Suisse. Cette enquête a fait l’objet d’une exposition et d’une publication intitulée « Ligne de Fond » au Musée des Beaux-Arts du Locle en 2015. Cette même année, Yann Mingard participe à une exposition collective à l’East Wing Gallery à Dubaï.

Born in 1973, Yann Mingard is a Swiss photographer. He abandoned his initial occupation as a landscape horticulturalist to take up studies at the “Ecole supérieure d’art visuels de Genève” followed by advanced studies in photography at the “Ecole d’arts appliqués de Vevey (CEPV)”. He devotes himself entirely to photography impregnating his works with a sensitivity intimately linked to soil and a natural environment.
In the context of his last work “Deposit”, Yann Mingard is actively interested in the conservation of human heritage. He gets down to asking questions, underlines paradoxes – he suggests that it is funny to conserve a seed, a living organism, in a room where everything is conceived so that the conservation is optimal. What could be more artificial?
Full of aesthetic appeal, the work of the artist takes a place in our relationship with the environment by illustrating, as in the case of “Repaires” (refuges), with simplicity but by questioning the citizen – these dreamlike landscapes, unspoiled by human intervention, can they still exist or are they now to be considered mythical?
The work of Yann Mingard is internationally recognized and forms part of important collections at the FNAC in Paris and the “Musée de l’Elysée in Lausanne. In 2014, his project “ Deposit” was recognized as a dazzling success at several exhibitions in Switzerland (The Fotomuseum in Winterthur, the Photoforum PasquArt in Bienne) and abroad at the Museeum Folgang, in Essen (Germany) and the Fotomuseum in Antwerpen (Belgium). His collaboration with Galerie C gave him access to present his work at the Fotofever Art Fair at Bruxelles in 2013. In 2014, his work received several honours – the award “Artist of the year” at the Lianzhou Foto festival in China, and the first prize for his project “Enquête photographique neuchâteloise” (Photographic survey of Neuchâtel). This survey was the subject of an exhibition and a publication entitled “Ligne de Fond” (The bottom line) at the “Musée des Beaux Arts” at Le Locle in 2015. In the same year, Yan Mingard participated in a collective exhibition at the “East Wing Gallery” in Dubai.
