Senta Simond est née à Genève. Elle a étudié l’histoire et l’esthétique du cinéma à l’Université de Lausanne, avant d’obtenir en 2017 un master en photographie à l’ECAL. La même année, ses travaux ont été nominés à l’Unseen Dummy Award ainsi qu’au First PhotoBook Award dans le cadre de la foire Paris Photo. En 2018, elle a reçu le Swiss Design Award. Entre-temps, elle a exposé ses photos à la Webber Gallery et à la Peckham 24 à Londres, au Centre d’art Pasquart à Bienne, ainsi qu’au Museum FOAM à Amsterdam. Les photos de son projet de diplôme ont été publiées dans un ouvrage intitulé Rayon vert, considéré comme l’un des meilleurs livres de l’année par le British Journal of Photography. En 2025, elle est nouvellement sélectionnée aux Swiss Design Awards.
Réputée pour ses photographies du corps féminin qui remettent en question les standards de beauté, Senta Simond dirige aujourd’hui son regard vers le corps masculin. A l’automne 2025, elle publie un nouveau livre photo “Blue Hour” chez MÖREL. Dans cette dernière série, Senta Simond explore l’intimité, la vulnérabilité et la tendresse masculine, loin des représentations rigides et stoïques habituelles. Les modèles, saisis dans des moments de douceur silencieuse, évoquent la chaleur d’un partenaire ou la présence d’un confident.
Des jeans usés tachés de peinture créent des zones d’ombre naturelles, tandis que certains clichés, empreints d’une sensualité discrète, rappellent l’esthétique des publicités de voitures musclées. En révélant cette part souvent ignorée de la masculinité, Simond propose une vision plus nuancée, fragile et humaine de l’homme contemporain.

Senta Simond was born in Geneva. She studied film history and aesthetics at the University of Lausanne before obtaining a master's degree in photography from ECAL in 2017. That same year, her work was nominated for the Unseen Dummy Award and the First PhotoBook Award at the Paris Photo fair. In 2018, she received the Swiss Design Award. In the meantime, she has exhibited her photographs at the Webber Gallery and Peckham 24 in London, the Pasquart Art Centre in Biel, and the FOAM Museum in Amsterdam. The photos from her diploma project were published in a book entitled Rayon vert, considered one of the best books of the year by the British Journal of Photography. Renowned for her photographs of the female body that challenge standards of beauty, Senta Simond is now turning her gaze to the male body. In autumn 2025, she published a new photo book, Blue Hour, with MÖREL. In this latest series, Senta Simond explores masculinity's intimacy, vulnerability and tenderness, far removed from the usual rigid and stoic representations. The models, captured in moments of silent tenderness, evoke the warmth of a partner or the presence of a confidant. Worn jeans stained with paint create natural shadows, while some shots, imbued with a discreet sensuality, recall the aesthetics of muscle car advertisements. By revealing this often-ignored side of masculinity, Simond offers a more nuanced, fragile and human vision of contemporary man.
